Louise Collett, Mezzo Soprano

Mezzo-soprano Louise Collett studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, gaining a First Class Honours Degree, Post-Graduate Diploma in Concert Singing, Master of Music and Master of Opera (all with Distinction). 

Louise completed Scottish Opera’s Emerging Artists programme in August 2010. During her year on the programme Louise sang with the Orchestra of Scottish Opera in St Andrew’s in the Square, covered the role of Isabella in L’italiana in Algeri, premiered a number of roles as part of the contemporary opera project Five:15 and was the mezzo-soprano soloist on the Essential Scottish Opera tour around Scotland.

Recent operatic engagements include Mezzo Ensemble Jakob Lenz (ENO), Suzuki Madama Butterfly (Opera Bohemia), Lola Cavalleria Rusticana (Scottish Opera Concert Performance), Maddalena Rigoletto (Scottish Opera), Olga The Merry Widow (Scottish Opera on Tour), and concert performances at the Edinburgh International Festival as Wowkle La Fanciulla Del West, LehrbubeDie Meistersinger von Nürnberg and Mère Jeanne Les Dialogues des Carmelites.

Louise currently studies with Karen Cargill and is a Samling Scholar.
