Thoresby Colliery Band

Thoresby Colliery Band, formed in 1984, is a Championship Section brass band based in Edwinstowe.

The band has an outstanding reputation for undertaking a wide variety of engagements ranging from annual sell out Carol concerts at the Royal Concert Hall in Nottingham to appearances on both radio and television including “Children in Need” and ITV’s “Peak Practice”.

The band has performed open air in London’s Royal Parks and originally played for the opening, by the Princess Royal in 2003, of the 9/11 Memorial Gardens. The band was also honoured to be invited back to play for the 10th anniversary.

Thoresby Band has also enjoyed considerable historical success on the contest platform and has on many occasions represented the Midlands area at the National Brass Band Championship finals held at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

They came 15th in the National Finals at the Royal Albert Hall in October 2016, meaning that they are 15th in the country.

Engagements and appearances in championships have also been undertaken in France, Germany and Malta.
