Christmas

The ‘Christmas Cracker’ concert at Highfields School

This was a great success as usual.  Derbyshire Singers were joined by Matlock Band and Jeanette Massocchi (piano) and Brother Roger Dominic (organ), and together with Paul Archibald (trumpet) and Darren Abrahams (tenor).  There was a variety of music, carols old and new, operatic arias and even Jazz, with audience participation at appropriate moments (after we had all had a drink or two).  As usual the hall was packed and we had sold all the available tickets, while managing to comply with the health and safety regulations as to numbers and spacing of tables, and placement of staging.

It is a complicated event to organise and thanks go to Joe and Lynn for their sterling work, and also to the committee and all who help in all kinds of ways to make the evening go without a hitch.  We also thank our sponsors who provided some splendid raffle prizes.  It is always a pleasure to have Matlock Band taking part and they always surprise us with their talents.

RNLI concert at St.John’s Church, Ashbourne

This gives us a chance to perform more or less the same program as the Christmas Cracker concert, but with just the band and the choir, to raise funds for Royal National Lifeboats Institute, and we always get a good audience to support this event.
